If you know me, you know I enjoy the zoo. I’ve been to the Bronx Zoo several times and just a few months ago I took Jaden to the San Diego Zoo. Recently I found out there was a zoo in Jersey called the Turtle Back Zoo, which I had no idea about. It also recently re-opened after being closed due to covid-19. The zoo has reopened with new safety measures including reserving a time and paying in advance to visit, hand sanitizer stands, 6 foot distancing floor markers, requiring everyone to get their temperature checked before entering and requiring everyone to wear a mask. Though it was such a different experience to be walking around with a mask on at a zoo, it made me feel safe to know we were all protected. It made me happy to take Jaden out so that he can truly enjoy being a kid.
It was hot out when we visited. I was equipped with cold water for me, good walking shoes, a mask and of course water, the Green Sprouts sun hat and baby bum sun block for Jaden. (Click links to Amazon for products)
Although some animals were hiding from the extreme direct sun, we did get to capture giraffes, a peacock, a bear, and a few other animals. But the most enjoyable experience was the train ride. I would say, if you’re looking for a nice safe day out with the family, the Turtle Back Zoo is your go to!
