How to Take a 24 Hour Post Baby Moon in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Surprisingly, I didn’t go on a Baby Moon. I really wanted to but it didn’t happen. So I decided to do something nice after my son turned two months. I wasn’t entirely ready to leave him and go somewhere far away. But, I really needed 24 hours to relax, sleep, soak in some sun and to spend some time with bae since with a new baby, we hardly have time or energy for each other. So last minute we booked a hotel, dropped the baby off with grandma and enjoyed some much needed couple time. I must say, the 24 hours was perfect and exactly what we needed. So I’m sharing my post baby moon experience to encourage new parents to take a 24 hour post baby moon and make it worth it.

First, I knew I wanted a hotel with great amenities that included a pool because it was finally going to be 80 plus degrees in New York. I also wanted a high end hotel located in a great area. I wanted to be able to walk around and not be in the craziness of the city but I did want to go to dinner, take a nice walk and sightsee. The William Vale had been on my bucket list and when I saw a deal on the Hotel Tonight App, I grabbed it. (Use my code: PGIBBS11 for 20% off your first booking on Hotel Tonight.) The William Vale was perfect. It was quiet and upscale. My room was amazing. It was the Gotham Corner Suite with Wraparound Balcony. It had the most breathtaking view of New York City and a nice Rain Shower and tub.

Not only was my room great, the pool was exactly what I wanted. It wasn’t a huge pool with loads of people. It was intimate and relaxing. I hung by the pool for the day, ordered a burger and fries (my mommy snapback “diet” was on hold) and had my first alcoholic drink in over 9 month. After the pool, I walked over to Mister Dips for a Berry Gibbs cone (again, my mommy diet was on hold, I was on vacation okay!) Yummy! We then showered, changed and headed to the first part of date night, the hotel rooftop bar, The Westlight. The Westlight also has an incredible view of both the city and Brooklyn. We hung out, soaked in the view with drinks and then took a romantic walk through Williamsburg.

We hang out in Williamsburg often enough but this experience we wanted to make sure was different. We were already familiar with many restaurants in the area but since tonight was our “staycation baby moon” we wanted to choose somewhere new. Well ironically, I found a restaurant called ” My Moon.” How perfect is that? My Moon is a gorgeous Spanish tapas restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant is also a venue space. The weather was still absolutely amazing so of course I dined outside. I ordered the Octopus because I love Octopus and bae had the Salmon with a White Sangria. Dinner was delicious and the experience overall was incredibly romantic. In my world, dinner is never complete without dessert. Instead of ordering dessert at the restaurant, we walked over to Martha’s Country Bakery for their $1 cupcake Mondays. I had my favorite, the Tiramisu cupcake. By the end of the day, I was in absolute bliss.

The next morning we woke up to an amazing view once again. Of course my first thought was “what’s for breakfast?” We decided to try The Bedford because 1. It’s Tuesday and very few restaurants offer brunch and 2. Because I heard about their delicious brunch, Tirimisu cake and the Mac N Cheese burger. We got to The Bedford and of course yet again, I wanted to dine outside. This day was sunny and breezy and perfect for outdoor dining. We sat at a cute little two seat table surrounded by flowers and greenery. I ordered the Soft Scrambled Eggs and the French Toast Fritters stuffed with Nutella (insert Mommy Diet phrase here haha.) Bae ordered the Mac N Cheese Burger. All of it was delicious but my favorite was the Fritters. They were unique and when you top it with whipped cream, it was so tasty.

Brunch had concluded and I still had some time before we were ready to pick up the little one. He and grandma were having a good time together and she gave me the okay to continue enjoying my staycation. (Surprisingly I wasn’t Facetiming them every hour since this was my first night away from him but the comfort of knowing he wasn’t far away and my mom had him allowed me to enjoy myself.) So bae and I took a walk through Williamsburg and did some shopping. Williamsburg is a great area for shopping, eating and just strolling. We decided to catch a movie at the Williamsburg Cinema. Again, not an overly crowded theater, and although it doesn’t have the reclining seats that we enjoy, it does allow for a more intimate movie experience since it’s a small theater. We watched the Avengers and enjoyed each others company.

New parents, a little post baby staycation is so necessary. It’s a way to remember who we were before our beautiful babies arrived into the world and changed our lives forever. If you and bae are in need of a little break, I highly recommend all of the places I listed above. And just so I make sure you have the best staycation experience you can, I’m listing a few more hot spots in Williamsburg that you may enjoy below. Happy Post Baby Moon to you, you deserve it!
