Southern Glitz and Hospitality in Atlanta
It had been a while since I visited the A-T-L and a while since I visited the south period so this trip was special to me. Having gone to college in North Carolina, the south does hold a special place in my heart. I wanted this trip to remind me of my college days and I also wanted to experience some of the Real Housewives of Atlanta and Love and Hip Hop Atlanta hype. Yes, I am a reality show addict. On this trip, I got a little bit of both. If you’re looking to mix some southern hospitality with a hint of glitz, this is where I suggest you go.
Hotel/Airbnb
Book an Airbnb for a more personalized experience when visiting Atlanta. This luxury historic suite located in Adair Park is a beautifully unique experience. If you haven’t used Airbnb before, click here to book and receive $40 off your first stay.
Prefer a more traditional travel experience and rather book your stay at a hotel? The Omni Atlanta Hotel at the CNN Center is in a great location, and they offer breakfast every morning. A delicious breakfast I should add. Book your stay here using the Hotel Tonight App and receive $50 off your first booking with my code PGIBBS11
Things to Do
World of Coca-Cola
I felt like a kid on a field trip going to the World of Coca-Cola with my mom. You enter the exhibit and you’re offered a free small can of coke in three different flavors. You then walk through the exhibit and experience the history of Coca-Cola including where it originated, how it’s made and how it’s evolved over the years. You end the experience by tasting coke products from all around the world. It’s actually a really interesting experience.
Piedmont Park
Take a walk, bike ride or picnic in Piedmont Park. This park is known for sightseeing, dog parks, playgrounds, public pool, basketball and volleyball courts, green market and summer camp.
Where to Eat
This restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch all day at all of their locations across Atlanta. You know those days when you wake up really late but you still want an omelet? This is your go to spot. I had the simple Highland Breakfast and opted for a delicious warm biscuit.
OLG Gang
You’ve heard of the Old Lady Gang restaurant by Kandi and Tom from The Real Housewives of Atlanta haven’t you? Well I had to stop by and see what the hype was about. I actually really enjoyed my experience. The staff was very friendly, the food was good and the restaurant had an intimate home feel. I had the deep fried whipped deviled eggs, Aunt Bertha’s fried chicken, lamb chops and a side of mac n cheese and collard greens. The lamb chops were my favorite.
Negril
If you’re a New Yorker especially a Caribbean/West Indian New Yorker, you know of Negril Village. Well there’s a Negril Village in Atlanta as well. This Negril I think is a more classier feel, very chic downstairs and upstairs is where the bar and parties happen. The vibe is great, good music and good drinks. I had the jerk salmon, it was delicious.
Puff & Petals
Singer and R&B artist K. Michelle opened a cute little lounge in Atlanta called Puff & Petals Lounge. It’s the perfect place to grab a cute fancy drink and catch up with one of your good good girlfriends. I wouldn’t suggest going if you’re really hungry but if you want to get a drink, spill some tea and take some cute Instagram photos with your friend, that’s what you go here for.
